Leave A Legacy

An important part of every estate plan is considering the extent to which charity should be included.

Leave A Legacy is a program of the National Committee on Planned Giving which promotes interest in charitable giving through a will or an estate.

Leave A Legacy works hand in hand with area philanthropic groups, such as Newton Community & Healthcare Foundation, to encourage charitable planned giving.

"Newton Community & Healthcare Foundation is one of about 30 area organizations that support Leave A Legacy," said Pat Swartzendruber, LAL's 2001 chairperson. "The foundation has a strong interest in Leave A Legacy because it extends the mission it promotes.

"Leave A Legacy is a month-long campaign, starting the first of September, to raise awareness in the community," added Swartzendruber. "We try to teach individuals how they can leave a legacy by giving charitably.

"During September we provide a Speakers‚ Bureau — professionals who present programs on how to give. Our capstone presentation will be during our luncheon on September 25."

Leave A Legacy has been serving the Harvey County area since 1998 and is receiving contributions again this year for the public education campaign.

For more information on the Leave A Legacy campaign or to schedule a speaker, call Pat Swartzendruber at 316-284-6381, or visit www.nchf.net/leavealegacy.html.
