Grants Exceed $128,000
Newton Community & Healthcare
Foundation has donated more than $128,000 to area groups
and organizations during its 2002 fiscal year that ends
June 30.
The distribution represents
21 grants totaling $118,769 made in March and $10,000 in
grants from the net proceeds of the foundation's annual
charity golf tournament in May.
"We are really grateful
for the continuing and growing generosity of our Newton
community," said Loren Friesen, NCHF executive director.
Grants awarded in March
went to the following:

- Big Brothers/Sisters
of Harvey County: $2,000
- Caring Hands Humane Society:
$1,000
- Court-Appointed Special
Advocates (CASA): $2,500
- Central Homecare and
Hospice: $2,000
- Episcopal Social Services'
Venture House: $4,000
- Episcopal Social Services'
St. Matthew Payee Representative program: $1,000
- Harvey County United
Way: $12,000
- Health Ministries of
Harvey County: $1,000
- Heart to Heart Child
Advocacy Center: $2,500
- Meadowlark Homestead:
$1,000
- National Jewish Medical
& Research Center (Research for Idiopathic pulmonary
fibrosis): $8,000
- Newton Community Theatre:
$1,000
- Newton Fine Arts Association:
$2,000
- Newton Meals on Wheels:
$5,000
- Newton Medical Center
(Pulmonary Care): $5,000
- Newton Mid-Kansas Orchestra
Association: $1,000
- Northview Development
Services: $2,500
- Offender/Victim Ministries:
$1,000
- Prairie View, Inc.: $15,000
- Salvation Army, Newton:

Newton Community & Healthcare
Foundation has awarded more than $798,000 since it was established
in 1995.
The foundation holds endowment

and organizations.
