NCHF
Adopts National Standards
Newton Community & Healthcare
Foundation has made a formal commitment to adopt national
standards recently established for community foundations.
The standards were developed
in late 2000 by the Leadership Team of the Council on Foundations
and representatives of community foundations from throughout
the country.
"The standards are a
road map in establishing the highest levels of legal, ethical
and operational integrity," explained Loren Friesen,
CSPG, executive director of NCHF. "In adopting these
standards, we are communicating to the public our commitment
to accountability, excellence and service."
Such standards provide a
consistent set of expectations that can save time by focusing
board and staff energies on appropriate priorities, Friesen
added, and allow community foundation practices to be systematically
documented and communicated.
"We are joining a growing
nationwide movement to adopt the standards," he said,
"and thus strengthen the effectiveness of community
foundations."
