Lucille
Kinney Makes Bequest
A
$445,000 bequest to benefit the Fellowship of John program
at Kansas Christian Home has been made to the Newton Community
& Healthcare Foundation (NCHF).
The gift to the endowment
fund that supports the Fellowship of John fund came from
the estate of Lucille Kinney who had lived at Kansas Christian
Home in Newton for 20 years.
The Fellowship of John program
was established to support residents of Kansas Christian
Home who have exhausted their financial resources.
"We are so pleased that
Mrs. Kinney chose the Fellowship of John endowment at NCHF," said Loren Friesen, CSPG, Executive
Director of NCHF. "This endowment fund will provide support for
residents of the home into perpetuity."
Mrs. Kinney, 89, was an assistant
to the president of a Wichita retail school supply company.
Her husband, Warren, was a stock broker in Wichita.
While living in Wichita,
Lucille and Warren were members of the Hillside Christian
Church, and served as sponsors for their church youth group.
Mrs. Kinney also enjoyed sewing, knitting and bridge.
The couple moved to the Kansas
Christian Home about 20 years ago. They built a cottage
on the KCH campus so that Mrs. Kinney could be assured of
permanent care the rest of her life.
Warren died several years
after they moved into the home.
