New
Fund for Children's Organizations
Newton Community & Healthcare
Foundation announced on Feb. 15 a new source of funding
for childrens organizations in the Greater Newton
area.
The "Newton Kids FUNd,"
created by $13,000 in proceeds from the 2004 Great Newton
Derby Duck Race, offers grants to tax-exempt, charitable
organizations that serve children in the Greater Newton
area.
Organizations may apply for
a maximum grant of $2,000. Deadline for
submitting applications is March 15, 2005.
"The foundation board
of trustees placed a limit on the size of the
grant so that more organizations could participate in this
first year,"
explained Tom Adrian, board chairman.
Grant applications may be
downloaded (.doc or pdf),
or contact the foundation office, 316-804-6007,
located in Newton Medical Center, 600 Medical Center Dr.
A special selection committee
will review the applications, and awards
will be made before the end of May.
The Great Newton Derby Duck
Race was sponsored by the foundation,
several Newton businesses and more than a dozen youth organizations
to
benefit the communitys children.
